Dalton Harrison ist ein legasthener Transmann mit einer Gefängnisgeschichte. Derzeit studiert er Strafjustiz und Kriminologie (BA) und glaubt, dass er deshalb das Praktische vor der Theorie absolviert hat. Dalton war bei Blur the Lines zu Gast und trat beim Play House und beim Leeds Literature Festival sowie beim Leeds Lieder Festival, bei BBC 3 Music Matters und beim Leeds Poetry Festival auf. Dalton hat an Universitäten im ganzen Land Vorträge gehalten und international zusammengearbeitet. Dalton wurde in Pink News, Queer AF, Trans_muted und kürzlich in der Anthologie Twenty-eight veröffentlicht. Sein erster Gedichtband The Boy Behind The Wall ist eine bibliografische Darstellung seines Lebens.

Am 27. August 2022 verstarb der 25 Jahre alte Transmann* Malte C. Er war nach dem Besuch des Christopher-Street-Days in Münster Opfer einer queerfeindlichen Attacke geworden. Maltes Fall ist nur die Spitze von homophoben Übergriffen, die dieses Jahr in Deutschland verübt wurden (Tendenz steigend).

Schon zuvor haben der Leedser Dichter Dalton Harrison und die Dortmunder Autorin/Künstlerin Linn Schiffmann sich in ihrem künstlerisch Werk mit den Themen Queer, LGBT+ und Trans beschäftigt. Beide leben öffentlich transgender (trans-male und non-binary). Schiffmann hat sich bisher jedoch nur literarisch in Prosatexten mit den Thema Transgender auseinander gesetzt. Sie möchte nun in Leeds bei der Zusammenarbeit mit Dalton Harrison eine Methode entwickeln, um ihre Porträtmalerei (s. Projekt #365womenportraits) mit der Dichtung von Harrison zu kombinieren.

Unter dem Hashtag #tofacetransvoice soll Harrisons Stimme ein Gesicht bekommen. Geplant ist dabei nicht etwa eine reine Wiedergabe von Harrisons Gesichtszügen oder dem Wandel während seiner Transition von weiblich zu männlichem Erscheinungsbild. Vielmehr will Schiffmann die Emotionen in den Gedichten von Harrison einfangen und in einem (oder auch mehreren) Porträt(s) von ihm abbilden.

Die mentale Belastung von Trans-Personen ist hoch. Viele leiden darunter, dass sie ihren eigenen Körper als fremd wahrnehmen und das die gesellschaftliche Norm sie in ein System zwingen will, in dem das nach der Geburt zugewiesene Geschlecht akzeptiert werden muss. Genau diese mentale Belastung möchte Schiffmann mit ihren Bildern und Harrisons Dichtung einfangen. Die fertigen Werke sollen auch Cis-Gender Personen einen Zugang zum emotionalen Innenleben von Trans-Personen ermöglichen.

On August 27th in 2022 the 25-year-old transman* Malte C died. After attending Christopher Street Day in Münster, he was the victim of an anti-queer attack. Malte's case is just the tip of homophobicattacks perpetrated in Germany this year (and counting).

The Leeds poet Dalton Harrison and the Dortmund author/artist Linn Schiffmann have already dealt with the topics of queer, LGBT+ and trans in theirartistic work. Both are openly transgender (trans-male and non-binary). So far, however, Schiffmann has only dealt with the subject of transgender people in prose texts. She would now like to develop a method in Leeds, working with Dalton Harrison, to combine her portraiture (see project #365womenportraits) with Harrison's poetry.

Under the hashtag #tofacetransvoice, Harrison's voice is to be given a face. A purereproduction of Harrison's facial features or the change during his transition from female to male appearance is not planned. Rather, Schiffmann wants to capture the emotions in Harrison's poems and depict them in one (or more) portrait(s) of him.

The mental burden of trans people is high. Many suffer from the fact that they perceive their own body as alien and that the societal norm wants to force them into a system in which the gender assigned at birth must be accepted. It is precisely this mental strain that Schiffmann wants to capture with her pictures and Harrison's poetry. The finished works should also give cis-gender people access to the emotional inner life of trans people.
